The Azeroth Survivors best class depends on what you want from a 15 minute run, and the game's own numbers give a clear order for raw damage. We scored every class by the damage its six strongest spells deal to a crowd and ranked them: Warlock first, then Warrior, then Mage. That is an estimate from the code, not a verdict from play, so this guide pairs it with the health, speed and movement spell each class starts with.
Azeroth Survivors best class ranking
The index is the summed power of a class's top six spells at rank 1, scaled so the best class is 100. The full working is in the tier list method. Tiers are S at 90 and above, A at 65, B at 45 and C below that.
| Class | Tier | Index | Health | Speed | Strongest spell | F spell |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Warlock | S | 100 | 120 | 7.5 | Curse of Agony | Howl of Terror |
| Warrior | S | 94 | 160 | 7 | Sweeping Strikes | Charge |
| Mage | A | 70 | 120 | 7.5 | Flamestrike | Blink |
| Druid | B | 57 | 135 | 7 | Insect Swarm | Dash |
| Paladin | B | 50 | 160 | 7 | Consecration | Blessing of Freedom |
| Priest | B | 46 | 120 | 7.5 | Shadow Word: Pain | Fade |
| Rogue | C | 43 | 135 | 7 | Rupture | Sprint |
| Hunter | C | 41 | 135 | 7 | Volley | Aspect of the Cheetah |
| Shaman | C | 37 | 135 | 7 | Chain Lightning | Ghost Wolf |
Health is the starting value; every class begins at 120 and Warrior and Paladin add 40, Hunter, Rogue, Shaman and Druid add 15. Priest, Mage and Warlock instead add 0.5 to movement speed, which starts at 7.
Best class for damage: Warlock and Warrior
Warlock tops the index because its damage-over-time spells hit several enemies at once. Curse of Agony afflicts 4 enemies for 3.5 damage a second for 12 seconds, and Corruption afflicts 3 enemies for 4 a second for 10 seconds. Hellfire and Rain of Fire add area damage on top. The cost is health: a Warlock starts at 120.
Warrior is second and the only top-tier class that fights up close. Cleave, its starting spell, strikes the 3 closest enemies, and Sweeping Strikes damages everything within 5.5 yd every 0.6 seconds. It also starts at 160 health, 40 more than the Warlock, Mage or Priest.
Best class for a first run
For a first run, pick Warrior. It is S tier by our estimate, has the most starting health the game offers, and its spells need no positioning beyond walking. Mage is a good second pick: its pool is the biggest, 11 spells, and its F spell Blink teleports 18 yd. The beginner guide covers the controls.
Best class for staying alive
- Paladin starts at 160 health and has Divine Shield, which makes you immune to all damage for 4 seconds when an enemy closes in, on a 28 second cooldown.
- Priest has Power Word: Shield, which absorbs the next 30 damage within 10 seconds, and Holy Nova, which heals you for 10 percent of the damage it deals.
- Warlock has Death Coil, which heals you for 50 percent of the damage it deals.
- Druid has Rejuvenation, which heals 30 health over 10 seconds when you are below 85 percent health, and Thorns.
These defensive spells have no power score in the index, so they do not lift a class in the table. They are why the index is a starting point and not a final ranking. The builds guide shows what to combine with them.
What the ranking leaves out
The index ignores starting health, speed, the F spell and utility, and it measures a single rank-1 snapshot of the spells. Spells scale with rank, so a class whose spells gain extra targets at ranks 3, 5 and 7 gains more than the table shows; the passives and upgrades guide lists the rank rules. Level-up cards are drawn at random, so you will not always get the class's best spells in order. We have not play-tested the ranking.
