Starter zones for new players

Elwynn Forest, Durotar, Teldrassil, Dun Morogh, Mulgore, Tirisfal Glades are the six starter zones of the original game, one or two for each race. Their creatures sit between level 1 and 11, so they are the gentlest place to learn how controls and level-up cards work. You choose the zone in the menu, so any race can start in any of them.

The Barrens, the hand-tuned zone

The Barrens is the only zone whose creature list and bosses are tuned by hand. It has 30 creatures from level 10 to 32 and its six bosses carry fixed health:

Because the numbers are set, it is the zone to use when you compare builds between runs.

Azeroth Survivors zones FAQ

How many zones are in Azeroth Survivors?

16 zones: 6 starter zones (Elwynn Forest, Durotar, Teldrassil, Dun Morogh, Mulgore, Tirisfal Glades) and 10 later ones that run from Westfall to Naxxramas.

Which zone should I start in?

Any starter zone works. Their creatures sit at the lowest levels in the table (1 to 11), so they are the gentlest place to learn the controls and the level-up cards. You can pick any zone from the menu, whatever your race.

Do zones change the run length?

No. Every zone uses the same 15 minute victory clock and the same six-boss schedule. A zone changes the creatures and bosses you face and how far from the starting point you can walk.

What is different about The Barrens?

The Barrens is the one zone with a hand-tuned creature list: 30 creatures from level 10 to 32 and six bosses with set health. The other zones are generated from the game's creature data.

Next, see which class to bring, how the tier list ranks them and which spells clear a crowd fastest.
